Title
Authorization to Hire a Police Officer Filling a Current Vacancy in the Patrol Division
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to request the City Council to hire a Police Officer, backfilling a current Police Officer vacancy that was created when a Police Officer retired.
An internal and external recruitment was conducted. Staff selected Mr. Berthiaume as a finalist to be advanced through the background testing. At this time, Chief Katers is recommending Mr. Berthiaume for the position of Police Officer with the City of Ramsey.
With the City Council's authorization, Mr. Berthiaume will start as the City's newest Police Officer on or near July 31, 2023. Mr. Berthiaume, as with all new Police Officers, will serve a 1-year probationary period and will be subject to the City's Personnel Policy and the LELS Patrol Labor Agreement.
