Title
Adopt Resolution #23-247 Approving Change Order No. 8 for Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 Widening Improvements
Purpose/Background:
The contract for the 2023 Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 Widening improvements called for connecting the new watermain extension along Riverdale Drive to the existing Highway 10 watermain crossing. However, while completing this work it was discovered that the existing watermain crossing casing needed to be cut back to allow the connection to be made as indicated in the plans so the contractor had to expose the casing, cut off approximately 10-feet using a cutting torch, then remove the casing to allow the new watermain to be connected to the existing watermain crossing without delaying the project.
Notification:
Staff strives to present Change Orders to the City Council before the proposed work is completed. However, from time to time Staff approves Change Orders without prior Council approval, such as when a significant cost savings can be realized without sacrificing quality and there isn't time to obtain Council approval first, when there is an emergency situation that must be addressed, or when work needs to be done to avoid costly project delays. In such instances, Staff strives to present the Change Order to Council for their after-the-fact approval in as timely a manner as possible.
Funding Source:
The City Engineer has reviewed and approves of the costs associated with the Extra Work included in this Change Order in the amount of $4,000.00, which will be funded using water funds.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends adopting Resolution #23-247 approving Change Order No. 8 for Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 Widening Improvements.
