Title:
Consider Replacement of Entrance Monument at TH #47 and Bunker Lake Boulevard
Purpose/Background:
Around the later 1990's, the city placed an entrance monument at the NW intersection of Bunker Lake Boulevard and St. Francis Boulevard—and several years ago, an automobile crash destroyed this same sign. The entrance sign to the city was not replaced, due to the substantial construction taking place at this intersection, which has now been completed.
The purpose of this case is to ascertain if the Committee wishes to recommend to City Council the replacement of the entrance monument at this time.
The purpose of this case is to ascertain if the Committee wishes to recommend to City Council the replacement of the entrance monument at this time.
Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives:
Staff will highlight some of the details and manufacturing and installation timeline of the proposed project at the meeting, as well as respond to Committee member questions and ideas for proceeding.
Funding Source:
Staff's recollection is that approximately $4,500 was received from the motorist's insurance company that destroyed the original sign. The manufacture and installation of the new entrance monument is estimated at approximately $25k to $35k, and a modest landscape treatment for around the sign may be less than $1,000. (Staff anticipates having a quote or a not-to-exceed cost for the entrance monument available at the meeting.) Staff also requests direction from the Public Works Committee on the proposed funding source. Included within the first attachment is the Economic Development Authority's year-to-date budget as of August 31st, 2023.
Recommendation:
Staff does not have a specific recommendation at this time.
Outcome/Action:
Based upon discussion.
