Adopt Resolution 23-283 to Appoint a Park and Recreation Commissioner Due to a Vacancy 

The purpose of this case is to appoint a Park and Recreation Commissioner to fill a vacancy that was created when Mr. Justin Loss resigned.  Mr. Loss resigned due to moving out of the City.

During the last annual Board and Commission recruitment, the City Council interviewed several candidates, including two candidates that passed the interview process, but have not been appointed to a board or commission. Per the City's policy (attached) for the Recruitment, Application, and Interview Process of Appointing City Board and Commission Members, staff reached out to both remaining candidates.  One candidate did not respond; however, Ms. Megan Ealain responded and stated she would be very interested in an appointment to the Park and Recreation Commission.  

The City Council met in work session on October 24, 2023, and agreed by consensus to appoint Ms. Megan Ealain at the next regular City Council meeting.   

Funding for the City's boards and commissions is included in the General Fund Budget; therefore, there are no additional budgetary implications associated with making the recommended appointment.

To appoint Ms. Megan Ealain to a partial term on the Park and Recreation Commission ending March 31, 2024.
