Title
Adopt Resolution #23-259 Establishing Precinct and Polling Locations for the 2024 Election Year
Purpose/Background:
Purpose: To establish polling locations for 2024.
Background: The language in State Statutes previously required both cities and school districts to pass a resolution prior to December 31st of each year setting polling places for the following year. The Statute was changed in 2023 to pass a resolution only if there are changes to any polling locations. Council discussed two proposed polling location changes on April 11, 2023. The first change is for Ward 2 Precinct 2. The previous polling location was Independent Baptist Church; the new polling location is Fire Station #1. The second change is for Ward 4 Precinct 1. The previous polling location was Fire Station #2; the new polling location is Ramsey Elementary School. The proposed changes offer ample well-lit parking lots, are ADA compliant and offer large rooms to administer voting.
