Adopt Resolution #24-073 Approving Construction Contingency Expense No. 3 for Improvement Project #21-09, Centralized Water Treatment Plant
Purpose/Background:
Purpose:
The purpose of this case is to adopt Resolution #24-073 approving Construction Contingency Expense No. 3 for Improvement Project #21-09, Centralized Water Treatment Plant.
Background:
The Water Treatment Plant (WTP) project includes a construction contingency cost of $950,000 intended to pay for new items during construction that were not contemplated during the design process or for items that the owner, engineer, or contractor(s) propose to revise during construction.
The attached letter from Construction Lead Ryan Hanson with Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. (AE2S), the project engineer, identifies all items proposed to be adjusted during construction, including as part of Construction Contingency Expense No. 3. The letter identifies all adjustments and all spent and remaining construction contingency funds to assist the City in better understanding the contingency status. To date, AE2S has submitted ten (10) requests for pricing (RFP) to Magney Construction, the awarded WTP contractor, and has received pricing for nine (9) RFP’s. AE2S recommends approving Construction Contingency Expense No. 3 as summarized in the table below and the attached letter including Proposal No’s 010, 012, 013, 014, 015 and 016. No time extensions are associated with these requests.
As construction progresses, AE2S will continue to provide cost updates, coordinate closely with the City on all issues impacting project costs, support and track the progress of the WTP, and provide updates as needed so the City can make responsible decisions on the progress of the WTP.
