Adopt Ordinance #24-04 Renaming Town Center Drive NW and East Town Center Drive NW to Center Street NW.

The City Council introduced the ordinance on March 12.

When the plat of Ramsey Town Center Addition was recorded in 2003, several streets were platted in what is now known as The COR.  A central street system called "Town Center Drive" and its two branches, "East Town Center Drive" and "West Town Center Drive," were platted.  The west leg was never constructed and was recently vacated by the Council.  Town Center Drive and East Town Center Drive have been known and signed as "Center Street" for many years.  This summer, Center Street will be reconstructed and realigned.  The plat of "COR Five" will establish the new right-of-way for a portion of the street.  To change the remainder of the street's name, an ordinance must be adopted and then forwarded to Anoka County.  The requested ordinance basically makes what has been in practice for many years official. 

Only one property has an address that is on the County's records with an East Town Center Drive address (14515)--a small utility building owned by the City.  No other privately-owned property has a Town Center Drive address.  

None required as the City is the only one with property having an affected address.

Costs associated with this project are a part of staff's normal duties.  No new signs are needed as they already say "Center Street."

Staff recommends adopting the ordinance.

Motion to waiver the Charter requirement that the ordinance be read aloud and adopt Ordinance #24-04 Renaming Town Center Drive and East Town Center Drive to Center Street.
