Ramsey Photo Contest
We are searching for beautiful photos from the community for our 2024 Photo Contest! This is your chance to showcase your talents, share what you love about Ramsey, and get creative and explore three different categories plus a new youth category.

As fall begins, we’re already working on winter and spring programs!
Day Trip: Tundra Swan Migration tour
Join us for a guided bird-watching tour along the Mississippi River Valley, one of the Midwest's top migratory paths, to witness thousands of tundra swans and other species. After exploring with expert Jim Nissen, we'll enjoy lunch at the Blue Moon Restaurant and visit the Onalaska Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center for more insights and interactive exhibits. Pick up and drop off will be at City Hall.- Date: Tu., Nov. 19, 7:45 a.m. – 6:45 p.m.
- Cost: $108/person, includes round-trip transportation, light breakfast pastries, lunch, and guided swan migration tour.
- Ages: 55+
- Registration: Pre-register by Friday, October 18.
Macrame Plant Hanger
Looking for a fun DIY project to display in your home or give as a gift? Join us for a macramé plant hanger workshop! Our instructor will guide you step-by-step through the basics of macramé. You'll have a variety of design options, colors, and beads to customize your hanger.- Date: Tu., Oct. 22, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Public Works building
- Cost: $10/person. Pre-registration required.
- Ages: 13+, youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Registration: Pre-registration required, registration is open until full.
Mindful Movement Yoga
Mindful Movement yoga is back for September and October! Jennifer, our yoga instructor, will guide you through a series of poses and breathwork that revitalize both the mind and body. All levels welcome, no experience is necessary. Bring your own yoga mat, water bottle, and small towel.
- Date: Wednesdays, 6 – 7 p.m. at the Public Works Building
- Cost: $5/session
- Ages: 13+, youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Registration: Pre-registration is required by noon the day of. If you do not pre-register, we can not notify you of changes such as weather cancelations.
Puzzle Competition
Join us for a family-friendly speed puzzling competition, where teams of up to four will race to complete a 500-piece puzzle in two hours or less featuring a scene from Ramsey's 2023 Photo Contest. All teams can take their puzzle home, and the winning teams will receive a prize- Date: Sa., Nov. 16, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at City Hall
- Cost: $40/team
- Registration: Pre-register by Wednesday, Nov. 6 to guarantee your space.
The Hollow Park Ribbon Cutting
Join Ramsey’s Parks and Recreation Commission for the grand opening of The Hollow’s playground, featuring unique play elements on a 325-foot elevated boardwalk through mature trees, including a zipline. Enjoy grilled food, connect with neighbors, and stay for the Parks Commission meeting at 6:30 p.m. to hear about park and trail initiatives; the ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 6:40 p.m. Photos of the new playground and food menu can be viewed on the registration site linked above.
- Date: Th., Sept. 12, 5:30 – 7 p.m. at The Hollow Park
- Cost: Free to attend
- Registration: Requested but not required. If you are not registered we can not notify you of any weather related changes or cancelations.
Starwatch Party
Explore the stories of constellations and view celestial wonders through two of Minnesota's largest mobile telescopes, guided by veteran astronomer and retired WCCO Radio meteorologist Mike Lynch. Experience close-up views of the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies, and more, including a telescope-astrophotography system for glimpsing distant galaxies.
- Date: Fr., Sept. 20, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Elmcrest Park
- Cost: $12.50/person
- Ages: 8+, youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Registration: Pre-registration is required, space is limited. Registration is open until full..

We are searching for beautiful photos from the community for our 2024 Photo Contest! This is your chance to showcase your talents, share what you love about Ramsey, and get creative and explore three different categories plus a new youth category.
- This year features three categories: Built Landscapes and Architecture, Natural Spaces and Wildlife, Life in Ramsey, along with a new youth category: Through My Eyes.
- Entries for 2024 will be open until Tu., Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m. Visit the photo contest webpage for category ideas, examples, and full rules.

As fall begins, we’re already working on winter and spring programs!
- We’re excited to host our first Pumpkin Smash to take place just after Halloween. Details coming soon!
- This winter you can expect the return of our annual Tree Lighting and the Deck The House Lights Contest!
- In 2025 we will bring back crowd favorite programs as well as some new ones like a Food Truck 5K and Earth Day events!
- It’s never too early to start thinking about your spring garden! The City of Ramsey has extra compost bins and rain barrels for sale at a discounted rate compared to the standard retail rate. For more information on the compost bins or rain barrels, click here.
