Title:

Authorization to Hire a Planning Division Administrative Assistant 

Purpose/Background:

The purpose of this case is to authorize filling the vacant Administrative Assistant position.   In order to fill the vacant position, a recruitment was conducted. Staff conducted the necessary pre-employment background checks and recommends Kaokalia Lor for the position.  Ms. Lor will be subject to the terms of the City's Personnel Policy and AFSCME union contract, including a six-month probationary period.  

The Administrative Assistant position provides a variety of responsible administrative support functions for the Community Development Department, especially the Planning Division. Position responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to residents, contractors, staff and others; routing phone calls, attending city events, scheduling meetings, writing business letters and documents, and counter help at the Community Development / Economic Development windows.  

Funding Source:

The funding for this position is included in the approved 2025 budget.

Recommendation:

To hire Kaokali Lor as a full-time Planning Division Administrative Assistant, effective on or near June 16, 2025, at $27.382 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2025 wage scale.

Motion to hire Kaokali Lor as a full-time Planning Division Administrative Assistant, effective on or near June 16, 2025, at $27.382 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2025 wage scale.
