Title:
Adopt Resolution #26-032 Accepting a Polling Place Accessibility Grant from the State of Minnesota
Purpose/Background:
City staff planned and budgeted for the installation of an automatic door opener at Fire Station #1 in the 2026 budget. Staff received notification of a Polling Place Accessibility Grant to support accessibility improvements to government-owned polling places on August 5, 2025. Staff applied for the grant to help cover the cost of the automatic door opener at Fire Station #1, which is a designated polling location for elections. On January 15, 2026, the City was notified of an allocation in the amount of $2,102.03 for reimbursement of expenses associated with the automatic door opener at Fire Station #1.

The expenses for reimbursement must be incurred no later than October 31, 2026.
The installation of the automatic door opener is proposed to be completed prior to the August Primary Election on August 13, 2026.

Funding Source:
The total estimated cost of the automatic door opener is $4,260.00. The grant will cover $2,102.03 of the cost with the remainder coming from the building structure and repair account 0194.6381 in the amount of $2,157.97.
