Title:
Authorization to hire a Part-time Police Technician
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to request the City Council to hire a part-time Police Technician. Staff selected Ms. Jamie Blue, who will be subject to a six-month probationary period, the AFSCME labor agreement and the City’s Personnel Policy.
In summary, this position performs a wide variety of technical and specialized functions as well as administrative work in support of the Police Department, including but not limited to work in the evidence and property room with responsibilities for maintaining the official chain of custody for all property or evidence of the Police Department, customer service support; entering, maintaining, retrieving and compiling factual information through numerous computerized systems and disseminating this information to authorized agencies and persons; monitoring compliance by applying knowledge of data privacy practice requirements, responding to the public via telephone or in-person contact and classifying crimes pursuant to applicable state and federal reporting systems.
