Title:
Consider Use of 2011 QCTV Capital Funds for Technology Upgrades
Background:
As a part of its 2001 budget process, the Quad Cities Cable Commission allocated $30,000 to each member city for the purpose of technology related equipment or applications. The Commissioners for each city are required to request the funding from the Commission on behalf of the member city.
Staff has reviewed potential uses of this funding for technology related equipment and applications. Below is a list of items proposed to be purchased utilizing the Cable Commission capital funding and a cost estimate for each:
- Ceiling mounted projector for The COR Room, would include potential relocation of ceiling mount lighting
- Estimated cost $3,000
- Wall mounted white board for the Lake Itasca Room to improve clarity of images on the white board
- Estimated cost $4,000
- Upgrade of scanner for Building Division for scanning of documents
- Estimated cost $6,000
- Citizen Request Management Application
- Estimated cost $5,000
Staff is seeking input from the Council with regard to other technology improvements desired by the Council.
Recommendation:
Review use of QCTV capital funds and direct staff.
Funding Source:
$30,000 in capital funds from Quad Cities Cable Commission.
Council Action:
Direct staff with regard to request for and use of QCTV capital funds.
