Title:

Discussion with Local Legislators

Background:

At the request of City Council, staff has extended an invitation to the City's legislators - Senator Branden Petersen, Representative Jim Abeler and Representative Peggy Scott to attend a Council work session.  The invitation stated that the Council would like to meet them, and discuss the upcoming legislative session and the City of Ramsey's priorities.

 

Observations:



The following items have been identified as Ramsey areas of concern for possible consideration in the City's 2013 legislative agenda:
  • State Bonding Bill
    • Capital funding for Armstrong Boulevard Interchange
    • Capital Funding for other Highway 10 improvements
       
  • RALF Program Modifications
    • Allow cities to pool property lease revenues for property maintenance and upkeep
       
  • Special Services District
    • Include Multiple-Family housing in SSD legislation
       
  • Electronic Publication of Legal Notices

  • Legislation to Allow Use of Closed Landfill Property for Public Purpose

  • Cost of additional employer contributions to Public Employee Retirement (PERA)

  • Enhanced local control of group-home operations
