EDA Draw Event Series Sponsorship

EDA Staff received an inquiry on interest in supporting the Draw Summer Event Series. The HRA has dedicated funds to sponsoring the August 7th event, Rubber Soul-- a Beatles tribute band.  The City's involvement through the HRA opens the opportunity for the EDA to promote a local business at this event.  EDA Staff is suggesting the EDA provide this sponsorship to a "retail/service business of the year". The EDA would simply work to identify a retailer/service provider of the year and offer them the space at the event to market themselves-- the "award" for being the chosen business. The Business Appreciation Golf Tournament has a more office/manufacturing focus. Staff feels incorporating a "retail/service business of the year" and providing that space at the Draw Summer Event Series showcases support across all business sectors in the community.

Demonstrating support of our diverse business community as well as showcasing/informing businesses and citizens of the efforts of the EDA is an important effort. This sponsorship provides the EDA an opportunity to engage with the community in another fashion.

Staff is seeking support of the EDA to carry out the above suggestion. Alternative options and suggestions are welcome; however, Staff respectfully requests being cognizant of Staff workload and the priorities set forth in the 2014 EDA Work Plan.
