Title:
Code Enforcement Discussion
Purpose/Background:
At a recent City Council Work Session, a council member had several questions in regards to the current practice of enforcing the Public Nuisance Ordinance for Code Enforcement. The council member raised the following four questions that that will be covered at the work session along with any other questions that arise.
1. Should language be created requiring the complaint come from a surrounding property owner or within a certain distance of the alleged violation?
2. Is 14 days enough time to have a property brought back into compliance with City Code?
3. Is $250 too much to request an appeal to the City?
4. Should there be an extension or exception for a disability?
Staff will have statistics on violations, compliance and abatements to present at the meeting.
