Title:

Recognize Heart Safe Ramsey Milestone- Over 1,000 Residents Trained in CPR and AED Use

Purpose/Background:

Purpose:  To publicly recognize the achievement of the Heart Safe- Ramsey program having trained over 1,000 residents in bystander CPR and proper AED use.

Background:  The City of Ramsey officially met all criteria required to become a Minnesota Heart Safe Community in July, 2015.  Since then, Champion Tim Hoffman and the Heart Safe- Ramsey program have continued to work at their mission of increasing survival rates of sudden cardiac arrest by educating the public in hands-only bystander CPR and how to properly use an AED.  At this time, the Heart Safe- Ramsey program has trained 1,083 residents in CPR and AED use.  Monthly training sessions are hosted by the Heart Safe- Ramsey program at the Ramsey Municipal Center on the first Monday of each month.  These training sessions are free to all Ramsey residents and businesses.

Heart Safe- Ramsey Champion Tim Hoffman will be present.  His power point presentation has been added as an attachment to this report.

The StarTribune featured an article this week on Heart Safe and Coon Rapids Police Officer Bryan Platz.  The article is attached to this report as well.

Below is a link to a video created by the Heart Safe programs of Coon Rapids, Ramsey and East Bethel, featuring the real life story of a Ramsey resident who survived a cardiac arrest thanks to CPR and early defibrillation.
