Consider Letter of Support for Habitat for Humanity for Minnesota Housing Finance Agency Application

The purpose of this case is to consider approval of a Letter of Support for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity's application for Minnesota Housing Finance Agency funding.

According to Mike Nelson of TC Habitat, the organization is looking to seek funds to revitalize scattered residential sites. This could be for the acquisition of undeveloped lots or remodel of existing homes. Exact locations have not yet been determined.

TC Habitat has complete numerous similar projects throughout the region, including Ramsey. The largest known project completed by TC Habitat was a 24 unit townhome development in Town Center Gardens.

Attached is a draft Letter of Support for consideration. Staff believes the request is reasonable, as it helps achieve a number of the City's housing goals in terms of affordability and revitalization. Additionally, the program helps bring undeveloped lots into the tax base.

No City Funds are being requested. This case is being handled as part of normal Staff duties.

Staff recommends approval of the Letter of Support.
