Appoint Charter Commissioner Representative for the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee

Purpose:  The purpose of this case is to appoint a member to represent the Charter Commission on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

Background:  The City Council has established an ad-hoc steering committee to guide the completion of the Comprehensive Plan Update.  Staff is in the beginning stages of developing this Committee.  Nine residents not serving on an existing Advisory Board of the City Council have been appointed.  Additionally, each Advisory Board is asked to appoint one representative to this Committee as well.

Generally, the group will meet once per quarter until the end of 2018, or as needed.  There may be times when the group will split into focused sub-committees to complete drafts of individual chapters.

The Charter Commission was notified via email re the Committee.  A number of Commissioners have expressed interest in serving on this task force.

This case is being handled as part of normal Staff duties.

Staff recommends that the Charter Commission appoint one (1) member to the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. If desired, an alternate can be nominated as well.
