Title
Award Contract for Demolition of Former Sunfish Lake Gas Station
Purpose/Background:
PURPOSE
Authorize staff to enter into a contract with Sauter & Son's for the demolition and clean up of 6401 Highway 10.
BACKGROUND
6401 Highway 10 was recently purchased by the City of Ramsey via the State R.O.W. Acquisition Loan Fund (RALF Program). The City purchased 6401 Highway 10 with the intent to demolish the existing blighted building and to clean up the site. The City hired Hakanson Anderson to develop plans and specs for this project, and to manage the demolition process. Hakanson Anderson has completed plans and specs, has obtained quotes from contractors, and is now seeking Council authorization to select a contractor and begin the demolition process.

Observations/Alternatives:
Attached to this case are the project specs/ manual/ plans/ template contract. The engineer's estimate for this project was $75,000.
Upon completion of this demolition contract (winter 2017/2018), staff intends to obtain bids from contractors to resurface portions of the remaining parking lot (in the spring of 2018--future case for Council review).

Please see attached Hakanson Anderson MEMO. In summary, Hakanson Anderson recommends Sauter & Son's be awarded the contract ($44,800 quote). The Hakanson Anderson MEMO also includes a quote tabulation.
