Title
Adopt Resolution #18-073 Appointing an Environmental Policy Board Member
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to appoint a new member to the Environmental Policy Board.
Staff conducted the annual boards and commissions’ recruitment process for terms beginning April 1, 2018. Interviews were conducted on March 20, 2018 and the City Council appointed new members on March 27, 2018. Staff became aware of another term expiring on the Environmental Policy Board in 2018 that was not included in the most recent round of recruitments. The term was incorrectly stated as expiring in 2019 when in fact the term expires on March 31, 2018. Staff had a discussion with the commissioner whose term was expiring; due to time restraints, she does not wish to be considered for reappointment.
At the March 20, 2018 work session discussion, the City Council’s consensus was to temporarily offer Melissa Fetterley other City volunteer activities until there was a future vacancy on the Environmental Policy Board, Planning Commission or Park and Recreation Commission. Consequently, staff contacted Ms. Fetterley about the opening on the Environmental Policy Board and she stated that she would accept the opportunity, should the City Council appoint her.

Funding Source:
Funding for the City's boards and commissions is included in the 2018 General Fund Budget; therefore, there are no additional budgetary implications associated with making the recommended appointments.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that Ms. Melissa Fetterley be appointed to a four-year term on the Environmental Policy Board, effective immediately through March 31, 2022.
Action:
