Declare the Results of the August 13, 2019, Special General Election

Purpose:  The purpose of this case is to accept and declare the results of the August 13, 2019, Special General Election.

Background:  As per State Statutes, the City Council must serve as a Canvassing Board to accept and declare the results of a local election.   The General Election was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, and the City's eight polling places were open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The residents also had the opportunity to vote absentee if they chose, either at Ramsey City Hall, at Anoka County Elections Department, or by mail. 

The voter turnout for the General Election, including absentee votes, was on average 4.07 percent.  The Abstract of Votes Cast and the 2019 Results Spreadsheet are attached.  

Staff recommends accepting and declaring the results of the August 13, 2019, Special General Election and to sign the Abstract of Votes Cast.
