Title:
Discuss the Flag Pole Dedication Ceremony at Alpine Park
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to discuss the City's participation in a flag pole dedication ceremony and to identify staff and Council Member participation. If authorized, the City would use its social media to promote this event.
Over the past several weeks staff has been working with the Anoka Ramsey Athletic Association (ARAA) to relocate a flag pole that was salvaged from the Sunfish Express at the time the City purchased the site and demolished the buildings.
City staff and ARAA representatives have agreed that the preferred site for the salvaged flag pole is a location at Alpine Park. Central Park was considered, but it already has a flag pole by the Park Center Building.
The purpose of the flag pole would be to allow for display of the flag during events, and singing of the national anthem before games or events. The City would install the relocated flag pole and the ARAA would be responsible for the display and maintenance of the flag.
