Approve Amending City Council Meeting Schedule for 2020

Purpose:  To amend the meeting schedule for the City Council due to party caucuses, elections and holidays.

Background:  As Council is aware, City meetings are not allowed on Election nights until after the polls close.  Rather than starting meetings at 8:01, past practice has been to reschedule the meeting nights that would be affected.  Those dates for 2020 are as follows:  February 25 for Party Caucuses, August 11 for the State Primary Election.  The last date would be to cancel the December 22 meeting.

All the above dates will be rescheduled to the Monday before, with the exception of the December meeting.  That meeting will be canceled altogether as has been done in the past. 

 

All notifications will be posted on the bulletin board where meetings are posted as well as on the Website calendar.

Staff is recommending rescheduling the February and August dates to the Monday before and to cancel the December date.

Motion to reschedule the February 25, 2020 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting to Monday, February 24, to reschedule the August 11, 2020 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting to Monday, August 10, and to cancel the December 22, 2020 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting.
