Title:
Consider Letter of Support for Sherburne County Project on US Highway 169 in City of Zimmerman
Purpose/Background:
The City of Ramsey continues to lead and support improvements to the US Highway 10/169 Corridor in the State of Minnesota. The projects in the cities of Ramsey and Anoka have developed the theme of 'Greater Minnesota Gateway'. The Greater Minnesota Gateway is a coalition of local communities dedicated to the improvement of this key corridor not only for local communities, but Greater Minnesota as well. A key component of the success of advancing projects along this corridor has been alignment and collaboration. With that in mind, the City of Zimmerman has requested a Letter of Support for a BUILD Grant Application for a new interchange in that community.
Recommendation:
Staff believes it is appropriate to lend our support to this project in Zimmerman to continue to express the importance of the US Highway 10/169 Corridor in Minnesota. This would be consistent with our approach of supporting other improvements in other communities along the corridor. The City of Zimmerman has been supportive of the Greater Minnesota Gateway project in the past.
Action:
Motion to authorize Staff to issued the attached Letter of Support.
