Approve Amending City Council Meeting Schedule for 2022

Purpose:  To amend the meeting schedule for the City Council due to a State Primary election in August, General Election in November and to cancel the last regular meeting in December. 

Background:  As Council is aware, City meetings are not allowed on Election night until after the polls close.  Rather than starting meetings at 8:01, past practice has been to reschedule the meeting nights that would be affected.  The State Primary election is August 9, 2022 and the General election is November 8, 2022.  The second meeting in December is December 27, 2022.

If approved, the August 9, 2022 City Council meeting will be rescheduled to Monday, August 8, 2022, the November 8, 2022 City Council Meeting will be rescheduled to Monday, November 7, 2022.  The December 27, 2022 meeting will be canceled altogether as has been done in the past.  All other meetings would be scheduled in accordance with the normal calendar on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

If approved, all notifications will be updated to reflect the amended meeting dates.

Staff is recommending rescheduling the August 9, 2022  meeting to take place on Monday, August 8, 2022, rescheduling the November 8, 2022 meeting to take place on Monday, November 7, 2022 and to cancel the December 27, 2022 meeting altogether, as has been done in the past. 

Motion to reschedule the August 9, 2022 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting to Monday, August 8, 2022, and to reschedule the November 8, 2022 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting to Monday, November 7, 2022 and to cancel the December 27, 2022 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting, with all other meetings to be scheduled in accordance with the normal calendar on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
