Title:
Consider Replacement Options for the Rivers' Bend Park Monument
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to recommend to City Council a replacement for the park entry monument/sign at Rivers' Bend Park, which was removed a couple summers ago due to significant decay. A photo of the approximate 35 year-old sign before removal is included in the first attachment.
Timeframe:
Staff will highlight the background on entry signs and monuments in the city within the last few years, and review the quotes received that are consistent with the sign manual—this should take less than 10 minutes.
Observations/Alternatives:
The premier sign within the attached quote is more than $42,000; one year ago this same sign/monument was a little less than $37,000. Given the cost of this project, staff desires the Committee's direction on the scope of the monument replacement for Rivers' Bend Park.
Funding Source:
The recommended funding source, would be the Capital Maintenance Fund, (formally known as ‘Park Maintenance Fund #810’) which has a present balance of approximately $1.3M.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends obtaining feedback from the Committee, and then solicit additional quotes to be forwarded to City Council for the replacement of the Rivers' Bend Monument.
Action:
Based upon discussion, direct staff to obtain additional quotes for the replacement of the entry monument for River's Bend Park.
