Title:
Arbor Day Recap
Purpose/Background:
On Friday, April 29, 2022 (Arbor Day), the City, in conjunction with a local Ramsey business, Dedicated Networks, celebrated Arbor Day by planting a ceremonial oak tree along with six (6) maple trees. The planting event occurred at Dedicated Networks, located at 14000 Unity Street NW and the adjacent city-owned parcel. Approximately 20 staff from Dedicated Networks participated in the event. Attached to this case are some photos of the planting activity.
EPB Chair Laura Moore kicked things off by talking about Arbor Day and some of the many benefits that trees provide. City Staff also took the opportunity to review proper planting techniques with the volunteers. The weather was perfect, folks were excited, and all and all, the event seemed to come together very nicely. This event also satisfied the Tree City USA requirement of an observance of Arbor Day (2021 marked 30 years of Ramsey being a Tree City USA!).
