Title
Authorization to Temporarily Increase the Recreation Specialist from 29 to 40 Hours per Week.
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is for the City Council to approve alternative resources to be used toward the 2022 Happy Days festival.
Specifically, staff is seeking authorization to increase Ms. Marla Martinez-Flynn from 29 hours per week to 40 hours per week, effective July 11, 2022, through the end of the year. The additional hours are needed due to the Communications and Events Coordinator vacancy. The added 11 hours will be dedicated to Happy Days duties to cover pre-Happy Days work, day-of work and posts-Happy Days work at approximately 11 hours per week.
Staff would like the City Council to be aware that during the Happy Days season, the former Communications and Events Coordinator and the Happy Days intern would spend up to 80 hours a week (in total) on Happy Days. This case, requesting to add 11 hours per week is only one aspect of staffs' work to accomplish the necessary Happy Days tasks. The part-time receptionist/secretary is slated to begin working on July 18, 2022 and will also assist with Happy Days; as well as using other staff time as much as possible. Staff will keep the City Council updated on this year's event progress, as well as propose possible alternatives to future festivals.
