Title:
Declare the Results of the August 9, 2022 Ward 1 - Primary Election
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to accept and declare the results of the August 9, 2022 Ward 1 - Primary Election.
There were three candidates on the ballot: Milene (Mickey) Adams, Wayner Grimmer and Michael Olson. Milene (Mickey) Adams and Michael Olson received the most votes and will appear on the General Election ballot on November 8, 2022. Milene (MIckey) Adams received 180 votes, Wayne Grimmer received 154 votes, and Michael Olson received 344 votes. The seat is for a full term that ends January 4, 2027.
As per State Statutes, the City Council must serve as a Canvassing Board to accept and declare the results of a local election. The Primary Election for Ward 1 was held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the City's Ward 1, precincts 1 and 2 Polling places. Polling places were open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Residents also had the opportunity to vote absentee if they chose, either at Ramsey City Hall, at Anoka County Elections Department, or by mail. The voter turnout for the Ward 1 Primary Election, including absentee votes, was 16.83 percent.
