Title:
Contract for Civil Municipal Legal Services
Purpose/Background:
The City of Ramsey entered into a two-year agreement with Fritz Knaak beginning November 1, 2021 to provide civil legal services. Mr. Knaak has provided the City with an updated agreement for council consideration. There are two amendments to the contract with the first being a new effective date of November 1, 2023 and the second being a two percent (2%) increase to the monthly rate. Other sections of the agreement remain unchanged. At this time it is recommended to renew the agreement. For reference, the proposed contract is attached to this case.

Funds are included in the operating budget. In some cases, portions of the Mr. Knaak's invoices can be billed to escrow accounts submitted by developers, etc.

Outcome:
Provide direction on renewing the agreement for an additional two years, beginning November 1, 2023. If consensus is to move forward, the agreement would be placed on the October 24th Consent Agenda.
