Title
Authorization to Hire a Full-time Parks Administrative Assistant
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a full-time Parks Administrative Assistant. This case replaces case number 5.5 from October 24, 2023, which appointed Ms. Lynn Bauer; Ms. Bauer withdrew prior to her first day.
In order to fill this position, an internal and external recruitment was conducted. Ms. Maria Albrecht was selected for the position after Ms. Bauer withdrew. Ms. Albrecht passed the City's pre-employment testing. The City extended a contingent job offer which is pending City Council approval. If hired, Ms. Albrecht will be subject to a six-month probationary period, the personnel policy and the AFSCME labor agreement.
The primary objectives of this position are to perform a variety of responsible administrative support functions for the Public Works Department, primarily related to the Parks Division. This may include, but is not limited to: overseeing all park reservations, providing excellent customer service to residents, contractors, staff and others; routing phone calls, preparing written correspondence, etc. This position will be cross-trained to provide back-up coverage to the Public Works Administrative Assistant, which primarily handles Streets and Utilities Divisions related work.

Funding Source:
The funding required for this position is included in the 2023 approved budget and represents a savings compared to the amount budgeted for this role.
Recommendation:
To hire Ms. Mariah Albrecht as a full-time Parks Administrative Assistant, effective on or near December 4, 2023, at $23.96 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2023 wage scale with a credit of three vacation days.
