Adopt Resolution #23-279 Accepting Geotechnical Proposals for Improvement Project #24-03, 2024 NE Ramsey Street Reconstructions, and Improvement Project #24-05, MSA Xkimo Street Reconstruction
Purpose/Background:
Purpose:
The purpose of this case is to adopt Resolution #23-279 accepting geotechnical proposals for Improvement Project #24-03, 2024 NE Ramsey Street Reconstructions, and Improvement Project #24-05, MSA Xkimo Street Reconstruction.
Background:
Geotechnical reports inform design Staff of subsoil conditions, which is essential when designing the pavement section for reconstructed streets. Also included are groundwater elevations and support capabilities of the soils for utilities and trenches, as well as associated backfilling recommendations.
Hakanson Anderson, the design engineer for these projects, sent requests for proposals to three (3) firms. The two (2) quotes received are shown below.
Haugo Geotechnical Services submitted the lowest responsible total quote, and also has the capacity to perform the field work within 2-3 weeks of notice to proceed. Staff recommends accepting the proposal for Improvement Projects 24-03 and 24-05 from Haugo Geotechnical Services.

Notification:
If awarded, Staff will update the project webpage with notification of the geotechnical soil boring crews working in their neighborhoods. Staff has previously send out project notification letters to impacted residents, notifying them of the project webpage as the best source for project information.

Funding for this improvement is proposed to come from Pavement Management Funds.
Recommendation:

A recommendation letter from the Hakanson Anderson design engineer, Shane Nelson, is attached to this case. Hakanson Anderson recommends the proposal from Haugo Geotechnical Services, LLC is accepted, based on the estimated cost and schedule.
