Authorize Project Development - Trail Gap Construction, a 2024 Capital Improvement Project

The purpose of this case, is to authorize staff to proceed with the project development for a 2024 Capital Improvement Project, specifically the approximate 1,000' foot trail east of T.H. #47, south of the Holiday gas station and north of 142nd Avenue.

 

The Park & Recreation Commission and the Public Works Committee both recommend proceeding with project development for probable trail construction in 2024. Project development would consist of a topographic survey and the preparation of Plans and Specifications. (Note: Previously, this project also included seeking the voluntary granting of a 20' foot wide trail easement across the west edge of the parcel immediately south of the Holiday gas station—it has been discovered that the City already has a 25' wide easement on this parcel.)  The preliminary costs are broken out by area on page 2 of the first attachment. 

Funding is proposed to be from the Park Trust Fund.  Approving the construction of the trail would be a subsequent City Council consideration, following the development of Plans and Specifications that this case authorizes.

The Park & Recreation Commission, Public Works Committee and Staff recommend proceeding with project development for the T.H.#47 Trail Gap. 

Motion to authorize staff to proceed with a Topographic Survey and subsequent preparation of Plans and Specifications for T.H.#47 Trail Gap at a not-to-exceed amount of $15,000 from the Park Trust Fund.
