Title:
City Board and Commission Interviews
Purpose/Background:
As per the attached policy, the City conducts annual board and commission interviews every March for seats that are vacant and for terms that are set to expire on March 31, with new terms beginning on April 1.
The recruitment process includes the Economic Development Authority (EDA), the Environmental Policy Board (EPB), the Park and Recreation Commission and the Planning Commission. The boards and commissions openings were advertised in the Ramsey Resident, the City's official newspaper, on the Community Sign, on Facebook, on the City's board and commission website page, as a Spotlight on the City's website homepage and on QCTV. The City's website has links to the application packet posted year-round for residents to apply at their convenience.
New Applicants
Applicant application materials will be provided to the City Council at the meeting. There are two new applicants for one vacancy on the Environmental Policy Board. Both applicants will be interviewed in person this evening.
Incumbents (Odd Year Policy/Process -- Includes Interview/Feedback Session)
One incumbent is seeking reappointment to a third term on the Planning Commission. This individual will be interviewed remotely.
Incumbents (Even Year Policy/Process - *No Interview/Feedback Session Required)
One incumbent is seeking reappointment for the 2nd term on the E.D.A.; three are seeking reappointment to a second term on the E.P.B. and one is seeking reappointment to a second term on the Park and Recreation Commission.
Per Minnesota Statue 469.095 (attached), the Mayor appoints members to the Economic Development Authority with approval from the Council. The City Council will receive a separate packet with specific non-public applicant information at the beginning of the work session.
