Title
Adopt Resolution #24-122 Approving Change Order No. 1 for Improvement Project #21-08, Water Treatment Plant Trunk Watermain Improvements
Purpose/Background:
Purpose:
The purpose of this case is to adopt Resolution #24-122 approving Change Order No. 1 for Improvement Project #21-08, Water Treatment Plant Trunk Watermain Improvements.
Background:
During construction, field changes were required to be made to various existing and new watermain lines under Center Street as a result of inadequate as-built record plans.
The attached Change Order includes detailed information on the required field changes made to existing pay items and on new pay items not included in the contract. Revised plan sheets 19 and 36 are attached to the Change Order to provide visual details on the locations and scope of the required revisions.
As always, staff strives to process change orders before work is completed. However, after-the-fact change order approvals are sometimes required to avoid even larger project costs resulting from contractor downtime while waiting for the next Council meeting to obtain approval before work is completed. This typically costs thousands to tens of thousands of dollars for each day work is halted.
