Adopt Resolution #24-219 Approving Change Order #2 for Improvement Project #21-09, Centralized Water Treatment Plant
Purpose/Background:
Purpose:
The purpose of this case is to adopt Resolution #24-219 approving Change Order #2 for Improvement Project #21-09, Centralized Water Treatment Plant.
Background:
Magney Construction, Inc., the general contractor for construction of the Water Treatment Plant, is requesting an 88-day construction time extension due to delays that occurred at the beginning of the project outside of the Contractor’s control. These delays included time lost due to Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) requests for additional information and issuance of redesigned or modified drawings, as well as submittance of required documentation, including but not limited to, SAC determinations and special inspections, during the Building Department’s permit review and approval process.
A table is included in the attached cover letter from Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc., the design engineer for the WTP project, detailing the various delays encountered by Magney Construction along with the associated dates of events that account for the 88-days of lost construction time.

Staff and AE2S recommend approving Alternative #1 for reasons summarized in the attached letter and Change Order.
