Title:
Declare the Results of the August 13, 2024 Primary Election
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to accept and declare the results of the August 13, 2024 Primary Election.
There were three candidates on the ballot: Garth Andersen, Kirsten Buscher and Ebizimo Nagberi. Garth Andersen and Kirsten Buscher received the most votes and will appear on the General Election ballot on November 5, 2024. Garth Andersen received 757 votes, Kirsten Buscher received 929 votes, and Ebizimo Nagberi received 117 votes. The seat is for a 4-year term that ends January 1, 2029.
As per State Statutes, the City Council must serve as a Canvassing Board to accept and declare the results of a local election. The Primary Election was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. All 9 polling places were open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Residents also had the opportunity to vote absentee if they chose, either at Ramsey City Hall, at Anoka County Elections Department, or by mail.
