Title:
Authorization to Promote a Sergeant to Captain and a Patrol Officer to Sergeant
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to promote a Sergeant to Captain and a Patrol Officer to Sergeant.
With the recent changes in the City’s Police Department staffing, which included promoting Police Officer Brad Bluml from Captain to Chief of Police, additional back-filling has been necessary. After an extensive internal process, Sergeant Nick Dahlberg has been selected as the City’s next Police Captain and Patrol Officer Jake Hinnenkamp has been selected as the City’s next Sergeant.
With the recent changes in the City’s Police Department staffing, which included promoting Police Officer Brad Bluml from Captain to Chief of Police, additional back-filling has been necessary. After an extensive internal process, Sergeant Nick Dahlberg has been selected as the City’s next Police Captain and Patrol Officer Jake Hinnenkamp has been selected as the City’s next Sergeant.
Funding Source:
The funding required for these promotions is included within the 2025 budget.
Recommendation:
To promote Sergeant Nick Dahlberg to the position of Police Captain and to promote Patrol Officer Jake Hinnenkamp to the position of Police Sergeant, as follows:
1) Nick Dahlberg: Promote to Police Captain, effective January 15, 2025, at $61.534 per hour, which is step 5 of the 2025 wage scale; and
2) Jake Hinnenkamp: Promote to Police Sergeant, effective on or near April 1, 2025, at $52.927 per hour, which is step 3 on the 2025 wage scale.
1) Nick Dahlberg: Promote to Police Captain, effective January 15, 2025, at $61.534 per hour, which is step 5 of the 2025 wage scale; and
2) Jake Hinnenkamp: Promote to Police Sergeant, effective on or near April 1, 2025, at $52.927 per hour, which is step 3 on the 2025 wage scale.
Outcome/Action:
