Title:
Adopt 2025 Legislative Priorities
Purpose/Background:
The City annually adopts legislative priorities. City Council reviewed 2024 outcomes and identified 2025 priorities at their January 14, 2025 Work Session. The city will further work with Senator Bahr and Representative Niska in an effort to have them understand what is important to the city.
2025 Priorities with local impacts include:
Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Water Treatment Plant Trunk Watermain Improvements
Interfund Loan Exemption for TIF District 14
Funding for continued study of Ramsey/Dayton Mississippi River Crossing
Expansion of Metro Mobility Service Area to serve Ramsey
Closed Landfill legislation to provide for industrial development

This list represents know priorities at the beginning of the legislative session. Staff will continue to monitor efforts at the Capitol, and if needed, ask council to formalize a position on specific efforts as they arise throughout the 2025 session.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends formal adoption of the 2025 Legislative Priorities.
