Title:
Authorization to hire a Part-time Police Technician
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is to request the City Council to hire a part-time Police Technician. As the City Council will recall, during the 2025 budget discussions the Council agreed by consensus to add a new part-time (25 hour per week) Police Technician. As a result, Staff conducted two recruitment processes in order to secure a candidate for this role; this included an internal and external recruitment, first and second interviews, an extensive backgrounding process and other pre-employment tests. Staff selected Ms. Rachael Jaremko, who will be subject to a six-month probationary period, the AFSCME labor agreement and the City’s Personnel Policy. It should be noted that Ms. Jaremko has six years of experience as a Police Records Clerk.
