Recreation Program Update

Parks and Recreation has closed out most of our fall programming—highlighted by the second annual Pumpkin Chuck, a fall Puzzle Competition, and a 55+ Day Trip: Saint Paul Tales of Haunting Tour—and we’re not slowing down! With the holidays upon us, get ready for winter with programs like the 55+ Day Trip: White Christmas at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres (nearly sold out!), the Deck the House Lights Contest, and our annual Tree Lighting Event.

Upcoming Programs:
55+ Day Trip: White Christmas at Chanhassen
Feel the holiday spirit with a trip to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, the national’s largest professional dinner theatre, to enjoy lunch and experience the magic of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas – the musical!

• Date: Wednesday, December 10 from 10:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m., meeting at Ramsey City Hall

• Cost: $114/person (includes theatre tickets, lunch, and round trip transportation on a coach bus)
• Registration: Pre-register by Monday, November 10 at midnight or until full; no cancellations accepted after November 10.
  • FOUR SPOTS REMAIN as of November 7^th, 2025
• Ages: 55+

 
Tree Lighting
All are invited for Ramsey’s annual Community Tree Lighting event! The tree will be lit at 6 p.m. and PACT Charter Choir will be singing holiday favorites from 5:45 – 7:30 p.m. Join us inside City Hall from 6 – 8 p.m. for cookies, cocoa, photos with Santa and more!

• Dates: Tuesday, December 2, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Ramsey City Hall

• Cost: FREE

 
Deck the House
The Holiday Lights Contest is back! Show your holiday spirit with some neighborly competition! Details for registration will be available in the coming weeks.

• Dates: Contest will run December 2-21 with winners announced the week of December 28.

• Registration: Those who want to compete should enter by midnight on Sunday, November 29. More information coming soon.

 
NEW: Once Upon a Parenting: Stories for kids, insights for parents.
Join us for a parent-child storytime with Anoka-Hennepin ECFE (PreK–Grade 3). Kids enjoy books and crafts while parents learn practical strategies to support growth, emotional well-being, and problem-solving with a parenting educator.

• Date: Thursday, January 22, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Ramsey City Hall

• Cost: FREE
• Registration: Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to reserve your spot, only one registration needed per family. Capacity is limited to 15 families.
• Ages: Geared towards ages 3-8 with their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Parents may also attend without children.

 
Puzzle Competition
Join us for a family-friendly speed puzzling challenge. Teams of up to four compete to complete a 500-piece puzzle featuring Ramsey photo contest images.

• Date: Thursday, January 29, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Ramsey City Hall

• Cost: $40/team
• Registration: Pre-register by Tuesday, Jan 20 to guarantee your spot (only one registration needed per team)

 
Wednesday Evening Yoga
Weekly Yoga is back at the Public Works building!

• Dates: Wednesdays, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Public Works

• Cost: $5/session
• Registration: Pre-register prior to arrival at the class. Walk-ins taken on a first come first serve basis.  
• Ages: 13+

Mark your calendars for some community favorites returning in 2026! Additional details will be released as we approach the events.
 
Frost Fest
Experience winter magic at Central Park’s Frost Fest with ice-skating, a snow maze and sledding luge (weather permitting), steaming hot chocolate, chili cookoff tasting, and a luminary-lit skating path at sunset.

• Date: Saturday, February 7 from 3 – 7 p.m. at Central Park

• Cost: FREE to attend, $5 to sample chili
  • Half of the money will go back to the top winners, half will be donated to a TBA local nonprofit organization!

 
Starwatch Party
Celebrate the increase in daylight with us through a captivating exploration of the night sky. Mike Lynch, retired meteorologist with WCCO Radio and a veteran of over 50 years in astronomy, will guide us through a tour of visible celestial subjects such as the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies and more. He'll also showcase a telescope-astrophotography system for glimpsing distant galaxies.

• Date: Saturday, April 18 from 8:15 – 10:15 p.m. at Elmcrest Park

• Cost: $12.50/person

 
Garage Sale Trail
Meet your neighbors, find bargains, and rummage through miscellaneous treasures at the second annual City-wide Garage Sale! To participate and have your house listed, please sign up here. A final map and list of all registered garage sales will be published the week of the garage sale.

• Date: Thursday May 14 – Saturday May 16
• Cost: FREE

 
Two Rivers Art Fair
After a record-breaking year with a full booth lineup and waitlist, Two Rivers Art Fair returns to The Draw with live performances, food trucks, hands-on art, local vendors, and more!

• Date: Saturday, July 18 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at The Draw

• Cost: FREE to attend, vendor costs TBA.

 
 
What We’re Working on for 2026
Ramsey Parks & Recreation is gearing up for a big 2026. Look for the return of favorites like 55+ Day Trips, Art in the Park, Egg-Paw-Looza, Puzzle Competitions, Pickleball programs, Youth Sports Discovery and Soccer Clinics. We’re also planning the NW Food Truck Fests, Party in the Park, and the summer Concert Series. Not to mention, new programs such as Youth Archery, Family Pickleball, volunteer opportunities, and even more family fun!
