Required Audio Recordings of Public Meetings

Following recent interviews that were conducted as part of a public meeting due to a quorum of the City Council being present, questions were raised about whether these meetings need to be recorded.  Ramsey does not have a policy on this topic. However, practice has been to record all public meetings and provide online access to such meetings via interactive technology.  Furthermore, State Statute does not require public meetings be recorded, but it does regulate the use of interactive technology.

Should the City Council desire to adjust our practice on when public meetings are audio recorded and have interactive technology attendance options, a policy establishing those guidelines should be adopted.
