Approval of Contractor for Abatement Mowing Services

The City of Ramsey currently contracts out for abatement mowing services.  In 2011 the City had a contract with Complete Grounds Maintenance, Inc to provide mowing services. The contract for services expired last fall and the City needs to enter into a new agreement for abatement mowing for 2012. The City released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for abatement mowing services on February 20, 2012.  The RFP was sent to approximately 37 contractors in and around the metro area.  The proposal due date was March 19, 2012. The City received six responses for a two year contract.  

Attached for your information is a list of the 37 contractors the RFP was sent out too.  Also attached is a summary of the bids received.

The RFP was was published in the Anoka County paper one a week for two weeks beginning February 24, 2012.  The RFP was placed on the City web site from February 20, 2012 until March 19, 2012.  The RFP was mailed to to approximately 37 contractors from a list of contractors that the City maintains.

The City received six qualified bids for the abatement mowing service.  Bids ranged from a low of $25 an hour to high of $75 an hour. 

Staff reviewed the six proposal that were received.  Staff is recommending that Complete Grounds Maintenance, Inc. be awarded the two year abatement mowing contract.  They were the low bid of $25 an hour and also had the contract in 2011.  In 2011 Complete Grounds Maintenance provided excellent service to the City.  They also indicated that they would provide before and after pictures of each abatement with the invoice.
