Title:

Feasibility Study-Fire Station #2 Replacement

Background:

Staff was directed to perform a feasibility study for the cost and other details needed to replace the current Fire Station #2 located at 15153 Nowthen Blvd. The BKV group was contracted to create some basic plans for discussion. These plans are attached. It should be stressed these plans are for discussion only. If this process moves forward, more details and specifics will be generated at that time.

Bruce Schwartzman of BKV will not be present at the worksession.

Recommendation:

The purpose of discussion is to provide staff direction with regard to the concept of a replacement fire station on the suggested property at the time the existing "old municipal center" property is sold.  Staff would like to prepare for a quick design - then build if the property were to sell and the new owner would take immediate possession.  The plans are conceptual in nature as all details of architectural design, spaces, materials, etc. will have to be planned and brought back to Council for approval.

Funding Source:

At this point this project is in the discussion stage only. The funding source discussed previously has been monies generated by the sale of the current property and buildings.

Council Action:

Provide direction regarding the concept of a replacement fire station on the suggested property at the time the existing "old municipal center" property is sold.
