Consider Request for Special Events Permit for End Zone Bar & Grill at 6415 Highway #10 NW

Staff has received a Special Events Permit request from Gary Gruber of End Zone Bar & Grill, located at 6415 Highway #10 NW.  The date of the event is Friday, June 3, 2011 from 8:00 p.m. to midnight and again Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 8:00 pm. to midnight.  Note the midnight time is one hour later than City Code specifies.  

 

The event is called a tent party with live music.  The estimated attendance is 250 to 350 people - each evening.

 

Mr. Gruber met with Police Chief Way to discuss security, parking and traffic flow.  Chief Way is satisfied with the plans submitted.  

 

Fire Chief Kapler reviewed the application as well and detailed criteria for tent inspection and set up as well as traffic flow.  That criteria has been passed along to Mr. Gruber and he is in agreement.

 

Mr. Gruber visited the businesses in the mall where End Zone is located and requested permission from each of them to hold this event.  City staff has signed notifications/approvals from each owner on file.  

 

Mr. Gruber plans to be at the Council meeting to answer any questions Council may have.  It is anticipated Chief Way and Chief Kapler will also be present to answer any questions or concerns Council may have.

Mr. Gruber is asking Council to approve a midnight end time for the outdoor music.  In the past, Council has allowed a later end time for outdoor events.
