Title:
Consider Reimbursement of Employee Legal Expenses - Portions may be closed to the Public
Background:
An employee of the City incurred legal expenses in defense of himself for actions he took as part of his employment with the City. The League of Minnesota Cities policy is not to provide legal representation to individual employees accused of wrong-doing. However, the employee has since been vindicated based upon a thorough investigation, and a review by the City Attorney.
Observations:
Since , the complaint was generated by the employees lawful performance of his duties, and the employee has been fully vindicated of any wrong-doing, it is recommended that the employee be reimbursed for documented legal expenditures in the amount of $1,300.
Recommendation:
Authorize employee reimbursement of documented legal expenditures in the amount of $1,300.
Funding Source:
General Fund professional services.
Council Action:
Motion to approve as recommended.
