Title:

Appointment of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson

Background:

Each year, the Board must appoint a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson whose role(s) would be to run the monthly meetings and act as spokesperson for the Board as needed.  Historically, this had been done during the first meeting of each year; however, when the board/commission terms shifted to April through March, the appointment process was shifted to occur in April.  The last time appointments were nominated, the Board chose to coincide the appointments with their work plan, which now runs July through June.  Staff would recommend conducting the appointment process in April as there could be a potential at some point for the Chair or Vice Chair to choose not to re-apply for their seat and thus, there would be a gap of several months that would need to be addressed.

Recommendation:

Staff would recommend that the Board proceed with appointing the Chair and Vice Chair for the normal term of April through March, coinciding with board/commission appointments.

Motion to appoint ______________ as Chairperson of the Environmental Policy Board for the term of April 2013 through March 2014.

Motion to appoint ______________ as Vice Chairperson of the Environmental Policy Board for the term of April 2013 through March 2014.
