Schedule Meeting and Review Agenda for Joint Meetings with Adjacent Cities and City Commissions

An interest has been expressed in meeting jointly with neighboring cities.  As of this writing, staff has contacted the City of Nowthen for dates their Council would be available to meet.  Staff is seeking Council input/consensus with regard to agenda items for the joint discussions.  Sharing of services and issues of mutual interest would be discussed (i.e., transportation, development, river corridors, rail quiet zones, etc.).

 

As part of this discussion, staff would also like input on agenda items to discuss with other neighboring cities as well and to talk about a schedule for those joint meetings.

 

In the past, Council has held joint meetings with Commissions - usually June is scheduled for the joint meeting with the Park & Recreation Commission; and the Council has periodically held joint meeting with the Planning Commission, EDA, EPB, and Charter as well.  This is an opportunity to discuss the strategic action goals of the Council and other items of mutual interest with the Commissions.

 

 

It is recommended that staff be directed to set up joint Council meetings with the following neighboring cities:

Anoka

Andover

Elk River

Nowthen
