Title:

Recognize Anoka Women of Today's Volunteer Contributions for Fox Park

Purpose/Background:

The purpose of this presentation is to recognize Ramsey resident Brook Beaton's organizational accomplishments on landscape improvements to Fox Park.  Earlier this year, Ms. Beaton sought the city's approval to add appropriate plantings in the park following Excel Energy's removal of the Scotch and Red Pine under the power line on the south side of the park.

Since Brook met with the Park and Recreation Commission, she and the Anoka Women of Today raised over $1,000 in plant materials with the help and donations from Green Valley Greenhouse, a Ramsey business approximately one mile to the northwest.  Following  that her group commenced planting in the park, tallying over 100 hours of volunteer contributions.

If that were not enough, the Anoka Women of Today went on to commit to more community stewardship at Fox Park through the city's Adopt-a-Spot program.  Attached are several photos from the planting day, and the Anoka County Union article on the group and their accomplishments.
