Title
Adopt Resolution #14-03-062 Proclaiming April 25, 2014 as Arbor Day and the Month of May as Arbor Month
Purpose/Background:
The City of Ramsey will be recognized as a Tree City USA for the 22nd consecutive year (for 2013 activities). One of the standards necessary to obtain this designation is the adoption of an Arbor Day proclamation. At its roots, Arbor Day is a day to encourage and celebrate the planting of trees. In Minnesota, Arbor Day is officially observed on the last Friday of April, which this year, happens to be April 25. The attached resolution serves as the City's official observance of Arbor Day on April 25, 2014 and also recognizes May as Arbor Month.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends adopting Resolution #14-03-062 proclaiming April 25, 2014 as Arbor Day and the month of May as Arbor Month.
Action:
Motion to adopt Resolution #14-03-062 proclaiming April 25, 2014 as Arbor Day and the month of May as Arbor Month.
